Armed forces ready to confront enemy adventurism
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Shiraz, Fars prov, Feb 10, IRNA -- Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari stressed the full readiness of Iranian armed forces including the Navy to confront ill-advised threats of enemies.
Addressing a gathering of people in the city of Kazeroun in this southern province, he said the Iranian armed forced including Navy are enjoying such a high defense capability that they are able to respond to any kind of senseless threats by the enemies.
Referring to the history of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, he pointed out that the 1980-1988 Iraqi-imposed war against Iran almost occurred at the same time as the victory of the 1979 revolution in the country.
He said the nation at that time acted upon the order of the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini and started to oppose enemies by relying on its own resources, and thus gaining self-sufficiency.
This was achieved in a short time, he added, while the nation was dominated by western elements who targeted religious Iranian families with their cultural invasion in pre-revolution years.
