Iran's defense capabilities pose no threat to regional security

Tehran, Feb 10, IRNA -- Air Force Commander Brigadier General Hassan Shah-Safi says Iranian defensive capabilities do not pose threat to regional security.
Shah-Safi made the remarks in a ceremony late Monday on the eighth day of the ten-day Dawn celebrations to mark the victory anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Meanwhile, military attachés of Tehran-based friendly countries were present at the ceremony.
Shah-Safi said said that Iranian Air Force is keeping a close watch on the regional developments with full knowledge about the current situation in the region.
Enumerating Iran's achievements in defensive area, he underlined the need for equipping the Army with modern weapons.
Shah-Safi noted that Muhammad Rasoulallah military drills, already staged in an area covering over 2.2 million square kilometers, demonstrated only part of the might of the Iranian Army.
He said that the Islamic Republic of Iran possesses extensive territrial waters in the Persian Gulf and the Oman Sea, and it deems necessary to play effective role in maintaining security in the sensitive region.
