Iran unveils defense systems used in massive military maneuver

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Commander of Iranian Khatam al-Anbiya Air Defense Base Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili unveiled defense systems being used in the major military exercises code-named Mohammad Rasoulollah (Mohammad, the Messenger of God) underway in the country.
The drill started on Thursday and would last for 6 days. It is conducted in area of 2.2 million square kilometers, stretching from the northern Indian Ocean (10 degrees latitude) to the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf and in the southern and southeastern Iranian provinces of Sistan and Balouchestan and Hormozgan.
The upgraded model of 'Thamen 2' system is used in the drill to confront electromagnetic waves, Esmaili said, adding 'Fath 2' (Conquer 2) tactical radar system is used for identification and surveillance operations.
Seraj (Light) electronic warfare is another system which is capable of diverting strike missiles and drones of the hypothetical enemy in the drill.
The mid-range Shalamcheh missile was launched by Mersad (Ambush) missile launcher in the military exercise.
Another system was Fakkour (Thoughtful) smart system acting as integrated defense network.
Sayyed 40 (Hunter 40) surveillance system and Rased 32 (Observing 32) observing system were included in the drill as well.
