TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran used suicide drone in the large-scale drill underway in Persian Gulf and Oman Sea, southern Iran, for the first time.
'Suicide drone was used for the first time in Mohammad Rasoulollah (Mohammad, the Messenger of God) drill,' said Commander of the Army's Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmadreza Pourdastan.
One of the Army Ground Force's mission in the drill is use of the ground forces drones in two phases, he said, adding the drone would first act as enemy and then would fly acting as an insider.
The range of drones and their operational capability have increased, he said, adding they are capable of carrying more load comparing to previously-built ones and are equipped with high-quality cameras.
Calling the drones 'mobile bomb', Pourdastan said, they are used for the first time in the drill. 'The drones can be used for aerial and ground targets.'
'The military maneuver is sending a message to enemies that we are ready, and its message for our friends was peace, friendship and security,' the Iranian commander said.
