TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif reiterated that Iran is serious in negotiations with the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany on its nuclear issue.

'The Islamic Republic of Iran is serious in talks, but reaching an agreement depends the will of the other side,' Zarif said in a meeting with former Norwegian Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik here in Tehran.

He also referred to regional developments, and called for boosting anti-terrorism front and increased participation of regional states in the front.

Magne Bondevik, for his part, expressed the hope that nuclear talks between Iran and G5+1 would lead to a final deal and ease of sanctions on Iran.

He also highlighted the spread of extremism in the Middle East as well as Europeans' membership in extremist groups in the region, and welcomed initiatives of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in fighting violence, extremism discussed in the first international World Against Extremism and Violence (WAVE) conference here in Tehran.

In their last round of talks, Iran and the P5+1 countries -- the United States, France, Britain, Russia, China and Germany -- wrapped up a week of intense closed-door nuclear negotiations in the Austrian capital of Vienna on November 24. The negotiations aimed to tackle the remaining obstacles that exist in the way of reaching a final agreement.

At the end of the talks, the two sides decided to extend their discussions for seven more months. They also agreed that the interim deal they had signed in the Swiss city of Geneva last November remain in place during the remainder of the negotiations until July 1, 2015.
