Kamalvandi: Pre-publication leakage of IAEA reports defames agency
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Nov 14, IRNA -- International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reports are secret documents before publication and therefore their early leakage defames the IAEA prestige, Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi said here Friday.
"This has not been the IAEA's first mistake in dealing with the peaceful Iranian nuclear program and if this sick process will continue, it seems like it will not be its last mistake either," the AEOI spokesman told IRNA.
He said that Iran has many times objected to the UN nuclear watchdog's such conducts, hoping to witness the alteration of this illogical approach, but unfortunately still to no avail.
"In accordance with the agency's normal rules, the reports on implementation of the IAEA safeguards in different countries, including that of Iran, are subject the bilateral correspondence between the agency and that country up to the day of those reports' publication and the amendments in them need to be done secretly," he said.
Kamalvandi said that under such conditions the pre-publication leakage of such reports and their publication in some western media is for sure goal-oriented, aimed at affecting the normal progress of the Iran-Sextet nuclear negotiations and derailing them from their positive path.
