Iran, Russia underline expansion of peaceful nuclear cooperation

Moscow, Nov 11, IRNA -- Head of Iran Atomic Energy Organization Ali Akbar Salehi and head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko reiterated the two countries willingness to promote cooperation in the field of peaceful nuclear energy.

Describing the prospect of mutual cooperation as bright, Salehi said that cooperation in the sphere of nuclear energy is very significant.

Russias friendly measures are always in our mind, he said, appreciating the Russian side.

Further convergence between Iran and Russia will contribute to regional peace and stability, he noted.

Referring to signing of the agreement to set up two nuclear units in Bushehr, Salehi said that the deal will ope a new chapter in bilateral ties.

Head of the Russian state nuclear energy corporation, for his part, welcomed enhancement of mutual cooperation and described boosting of collaboration as beneficial to both sides.

Kiriyenko further noted that Bushehr power plant which had been left unfinished for thirty years was commissioned by Russia and it is currently generating electricity.
