Velayati: Iran never gives up its legitimate rights

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Oct 7, IRNA -- Head of Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati said on Tuesday that the Islamic Republic of Iran has not violated laws and it will under no circumstances give up its legitimate rights.

Velayati made the remarks after his meeting with former French prime minister and Foreign Minister Dominique De Villepin who is now visiting Tehran.

The other parties have reached the conclusion that they cannot deprive themselves of such advantage, Velayati said.

Speaking to reporters on nuclear talks between Iran and G5+1, he said Our stands are crystal clear and are the same as before as declared by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran has not backed down on its nuclear stands but insists on continuing its peaceful nuclear program, Velayati said.

Removal of sanctions by European Union is a good indication of Irans righteousness and also demonstrates the countrys authority, he said.

Iran has tolerated economic pressures for years and cannot pull out its stands, Velayati underlined.

In the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on various issues such as regional developments and support of certain regional and western countries for terrorist groups.

France seems to be playing more positive role in dealing with Irans nuclear dossier, Velayati said.

Dominique De Villepin called Iran as a powerful country in the region which can offer great help in the fight with terrorism in the region.

Ties between Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon are deeply rooted and Iran will continue supporting those governments within the frameworks of international rules and regulations, Velayati said.

He expressed hope that fight with Daesh would continue more vigorously.

Iran closely monitors regional developments as well as struggle with terrorism in Syria, Lebanon and Iraq, Velayati said.

The security of Syria, Lebanon and Iraq are of prime importance for the region as well as the world and grounds for expansion of mutual cooperation with those countries are well-prepared, Velayati said.

Iran is keen to broaden relations and cooperation with France, he underlined.
