Iran launches indigenous missile projects
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Sept 22, IRNA -- Iran unveiled two indigenous missile defense systems in a ceremony attended by President Hassan Rouhani and a number of high-ranking military officials.
The systems -- Fath 2 radar as well as Sadeq 1 drone -- were unveiled in a ceremony marking the beginning of the Sacred Defense Week which coincides with the anniversary of the Iraq's invasion of Iran in 1980.
The long-range Fath 2 radar system is equipped with the state-of art technologies to identify the Iranian from enemy aircrafts and is also able to detect drones.
The Sadeq 1 drone is able to carry out the radar system and electronic training missions at altitudes as high as 25 thousand feet.
Over the past years, Iran has attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.
The Islamic Republic has repeatedly assured its neighbors that its military might poses no threat to other countries, insisting that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
