Iran committed to logic in nuclear talks: Larijani
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Sept 21, IRNA -- Iran is committed to logic in the nuclear talks and not interested in Washingtons 'useless political gestures' which is only a waste of time, Speaker of the Parliament (Majlis) Ali Larijani said on Sunday.
Addressing the Majlis open session, Larijani made the remarks while criticizing recent comments of the US Secretary of State John Kerry at the United Nations Security Council on Irans involvement in the so-called coalition against the terrorist group of Daesh in Iraq.
The US has admitted Irans power and its influence in restoring peace and stability to the region.
They (US officials) have acknowledged that they need Irans help to maintain regional peace and stability, Larijani added.
However, he recalled the recent statements made by the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei about cooperating with the US in its so-called fight against terrorism in Iraq.
While the Supreme Leaser was in hospital, he said he was entertained by listening to the news about US campaign against terrorism. The Supreme Leader added that he did not believe in those reports and that Iran would not cooperate (with the Americans). That was a wise position, Larijani stressed.
Ayatollah Khamenei underwent a routine surgery in a Tehran public hospital on September 8 and remained in hospital for one week.
Larijani said that addition of new subjects to the nuclear talks is modern deception.
If they really believe in such threats, then why they are after talks? Larijani said.
The speaker added this would be a mistake if Washington thinks that Iran would accept new restrictions in the nuclear talks as a result of the US hue and cry.
The nuclear talks would make sense only based on international regulations which are equal for all the countries not through bullying, Larijani stressed.
Criticizing the United States for claiming to be at war with terrorism, Larijani said, the US hegemonic structure is basically intertwined with terrorism.
