Amano says IAEA committed to resolve all outstanding issues
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Aug 17, IRNA -- Director General of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) hailed Iran-IAEA cooperation, saying that the agency is committed to cooperation in a bid to address all outstanding issues.
Talking to reporters after a meeting with the head of Iran Atomic Energy Organization Ali Akbar Salehi, he said that he is glad to hear Iranian high-ranking officials underlining implementation of the framework for cooperation between Iran and IAEA.
Referring to his meeting with President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, he termed his brief visit to Tehran as useful.
Amano also pointed out that this was his first visit to Tehran after Iran signed agreement with IAEA on November 11, 2013.
He further noted that he discussed the exploding bridge wire detonator (EBW) with the Iranian officials, saying that Iran presented information on its decision to develop safer detonators in April 2000. They have also provided the IAEA with information on its activities in the field in the years following 2007.
The agency should evaluate Irans need for developing EBW, he said, hoping that Iran and the UN nuclear agency could settle all the issues through dialogue.
