President Rouhani: Sanctions, threats cannot affect Irans foreign policy

Shahr-e Kord, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Prov, Aug 6, IRNA -- President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday that Iran is to exercise heroic flexibility and not humiliating flexibility.

The President made the remarks while addressing a gathering of people in this southwestern city on Wednesday.

He stressed that the policies being pursued by the Islamic Republic of Iran today are different from those in the past.

The world is well aware that sanctions and threats cannot affect Irans independent foreign policy and following the guidelines of Supreme Leader, the administration will exercise heroic flexibility and not the humiliating one, President underlined.

He asserted that any leniency in the face of big powers is forbidden.

The world knows that threat and sanction are no longer effective, Rouhani added.

He said his cabinet was proud of the fact that it has already taken basic preliminary steps in running state affairs.

The whole Iranian economy including stock markets have entered a period of stablity over the past one year and Iranian investors living abroad as well as foreign investors have expressed interest in investing in Iran, the President underscored.

Several investment projects in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province are under study in order to turn this deprived province into a developed and modern one.

Referring to regional developments, Rouhani announced that Tehran has always supported the oppressed people of Palestine, Lebanon, Syria and Iraq against their enemies.

The Iranian nation would continue its support for defenseless Gaza civilians who have risen up to the Zionist regimes brutal attacks, he underlined.

Rouhani said the measures taken to tackle issues concerning economic, foreign and domestic policies as well as cultural and social areas have been tangible and transparent.

He made the remarks upon arrival in this city Wednesday morning.

President Rouhani arrived here Wednesday morning on his 6th provincial tour.

During his two-day visit, he is scheduled to deliver speeches and meet local residents, officials, elites, and economic activists.

He has already visited Khuzestan, Hormuzgan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Ilam and Lorestan provinces.
