Iran will protect nuclear achievements: Araqchi

Tehran, March4, IRNA -- Iran will protect its nuclear achievements through political negotiations with Group 5+1, Irans top nuclear negotiator Abbas Araqchi said on Tuesday.

He made the remarks in a meeting with the students of University of Culture and Art.

He said that Iran made a mistake in the past by suspending enrichment adding that the western governemnts failed to fulfill their undertaking to share know-how with Iran.

In the meantime, Araqchi said that Iran had technical difficulty to enrich uranium when it suspended in the past.

Today, Irans fuel cycle is complete and Iran will protect the achievements.

The deputy foreign minister noted that experts from Iran and the Group 5+1 member states including US, UK, Russia, France, China plus Germany will resume technical talks for a comprehensive agreement on March 5 in Vienna, Austria.

He underlined that the negotiations will continue until March 7.

The expert meeting will focus on the preliminary issues necessary for a comprehensive settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue.

According to Araqchi, the results of the meeting will be reported to the meeting of political officials and it will be an introduction to the high level talks scheduled to be held on March 17-20.

Hamid Baidinejad leads the Iranian delegation to the technical talks and the aide to the European Union foreign policy chief Stephan Klement is to head the 5+1 negotiating team.
