Iran foreign minister says Tehran is determined to elaborate on its positions in the international arena during the 50th Munich Security Conference (MSC) in Germany.

"We will use the opportunity at the Munich Security Conference to declare Iran's positions and hold talks with participating officials," Mohammad Javad Zarif said upon his arrival in Munich on Friday.

The Iranian foreign minister also commented on the existing issues regarding Tehran's nuclear energy program.

"It is necessary that we present the real viewpoint of the Iranian people against those who seek to portray an inappropriate image of Iran's nuclear issue and its positions," Zarif stated.

"At this conference we will also seize all the opportunities for dialogue," he added.

The Munich Security Conference is scheduled to be held from January 31 to February 2, 2014.

The event is attended by high-ranking decision-makers in foreign and security policy, including 20 heads of states and 50 foreign ministers, as well as business sector activists and civil society representatives.

Since its establishment in 1963, the MSC has evolved into a leading independent conference for the discussion of transatlantic and international security policy.

Iran's former foreign minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, participated in the 49th MSC in February 2013, when talks revolved around the ongoing crisis in Syria.
