Commander of Iran Army Major General Ataollah Salehi has underlined Iran's military capabilities, stating that enemy is incapable of launching a military attack against the country.

Speaking at a ceremony in Tehran on Tuesday morning, Salehi said enemy would have already taken action against Iran if it had been able to confront the country militarily.

He also pointed to the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the six world powers - Russia, China, France, Britain, the US and Germany – saying that due to their military weakness vis-à-vis Iran, they have pinned their hope on the political option.

On January 8, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said the United States is incapable of launching an attack against Iran.

Also on December 30, 2013, Deputy Chief of Staff of Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Masoud Jazayeri stated that Washington is incapable of attacking Iran militarily.

"For years, our commanders have kept their fingers on the trigger, and they have been given the permission and authority [to attack enemies]. This is not a bluff and propaganda," Jazayeri added.

The United States, Israel, and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program, threatening the country with military strikes.

Addressing the UN General Assembly session on October 1, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened unilateral military action against Iran to dismantle the Islamic Republic's civilian nuclear facilities.

Iran says its nuclear energy program is entirely peaceful, promising crushing response to any possible military attack. The Islamic Republic has also assured other countries that its military prowess only serves defensive purposes.
