Official: Sanctions left least impacts on country's defense sector
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Oct 28, IRNA -- Head of Irans Civil Defense Organization Brigadier General Gholam Reza Jalali said on Monday that the sanctions imposed on Iran have left least impacts on the country's defense sector.
Iran's defense strategy has been defined, he said, adding We avoid taking offensive approaches but we can target global arrogance in culture fields. However, our military strategy is totally defensive.
The fact is that the Iranian nation is now taking advantages of the guidelines of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution which is a point of strength, he said.
Iran suffered most losses and casualties in the World War I but this fact has been eliminated from the Iranian history, he said.
Ten million people out of the countrys 20 million population at that time were killed or wounded which is very unprecedented and no country in the world had incurred such heavy damage and casualties as Iran did, he said.
The Supreme Leader has called for strengthening of the country's might and advised Iranian officials to rely on their own potentials, he said.
"We should rely on our own capacity in defending the country's territorial integrity as we entered into a war soon after the establishment of the Islamic Republic. We even condemned Russian invasion of Afghanistan while we were engaged in a severe conflict with Iraq," he said.
"Our defense system is totally home-made as is evident in the missiles being produced domestically," he said.
Iran is quite well aware of the impacts of the imposed sanctions and knows how to deal with them, he said.
