Iran and six world powers have wrapped up the third round of negotiations on the Islamic Republic's nuclear energy program in Geneva.

The third round of talks was held on Wednesday morning and a fourth and final round is to be held later in the day. Two rounds were held on Tuesday between Iran and the six world powers.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said nuclear negotiations between Tehran and the six major world powers will continue in Geneva in a few weeks.

"Talks will resume in Geneva in a few weeks and until then the P5+1 members will have time to become prepared for the details of Iran's new proposal and the actions they must perform," said Zarif on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, during talks between Tehran and the six world powers -- the US, China, Russia, France, and Britain plus Germany --, Zarif presented Tehran's new proposal titled "Closing an Unnecessary Crisis, Opening New Horizons" during the morning session of the negotiations.

The details of Tehran's proposed package will remain confidential until the talks have concluded.

According to Zarif, Tehran's proposal underlines a new approach, which is based on the necessity for all parties involved in the talks over Iran's nuclear issue to pursue a "united objective" in an effort to reach a solution. The proposal has also defined the areas that can be studied and agreed upon, he said.

The senior Iranian diplomat further said the diplomatic teams attending the negotiations "welcomed" the plan, adding that Tehran wants to see, in response, a similar new approach on the part of the six major powers.

The Iranian foreign minister and European Union foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, are set to take part in the fourth and last session of the talks later in the afternoon.
