Supreme Leader highlights value of maximum turnout

Tehran, June 12, IRNA -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday highlighted value of maximum turnout in the upcoming presidential election.
The Supreme Leader made the remarks in a meeting with thousands of enthusiastic people from different social strata.
Praising enthusiastic people willing to go to ballot boxes on June 14, the Supreme Leader said that the people must consider obedience to law of every candidate as the criterion to bring them to power.
Elaborating on the democratic value of going to ballot boxes, the Supreme Leader said that casting vote for every candidate accounts for voting for legitimacy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding that the nation once again will display their commitment to the Islamic Republic by maximum turnout.
The Supreme Leader said that taking part in the election will create a political epic and the enemies will understand popular nature and democratic power base of the IIslamic Republic of Iran.
'The enemies of Islam and the Islamic Republic of Iran have employed all their capabilities and facilities to deal a blow to Iran by strring up division between the people and the government.'
The enthusiastic Iranian people will play an active role in the election and prove their solidarity with the Islamic system to thwart the enemies' conspiracies, said the Supreme Leader.
The Supreme Leader said that the election is a token of power base of the Islamic Republic of Iran the people's response to the western governments which orchestrated waves of sanctions against the nation and their democratically-elected government.
The Supreme Leader criticized candidates of the former presidential election who alleged vote-rigging in 2009 and said that disobeisance to law in the previous election was the cause of losses incurred on the country and it alerted the Iranian nation to abide by law in order to prevent such problems.
It is very promising that the officials along with candidates to observe law and they are expected to place trust in the organs involved in organizing the voting.
The televised debate between hopefuls enlightened the people's mind, said the Supreme Leader adding that those blaming Iran for lack of freedom is shameful.
'Presence of all political wings in the debates demonstrated their views which should be regarded as strong point for the Islamic Republic of Iran.'
Fortunately in these serious of election campaign all candidates observed code of conduct and ethics in representing their views, said the Supreme Leader.
The Supreme Leader said that differences on international issues must not be used as venue for competition, because any weakness will give more courage to the enemies to come forward.
Resistance to the international enemies requires confidence in courage of Iranian nation, their dignity and trust in blessings of Almighty God, said the Supreme Leader.
