'Fateh' submarine to be unveiled this year: commander

Bandar Abbas, June 11, IRNA -- Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said that the fully indigenous submarine named 'Fateh' will be unveiled in the current Iranian year (started March 20).

He made the remarks on the sidelines of a ceremony marking delivery of destroyer 'Bayandor' to the naval force.

'The destroyer has been designed and built by Iranian experts which will be unveiled in due time,' he noted.

Sayyari also said that the 50-year-old destroyer joined the Iranian naval fleet after undergoing major overhaul and being equipped with various sophisticated systems.

He also said that Bayandor was equipped with the latest equipment including missiles, torpedoes, artillery and sonar system as well as other intelligence and communicative devices.

He also hoped that the destroyer will soon set off for Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean or India Ocean.
