Iran's indigenous missile launching destroyer joins Navy

Bandarabbas, Hormuzgan Prov, June 9, IRNA -- The new indigenous missile launching destroyer dubbed 'Bayandor' officially joined the Iranian Navy here Tuesday.

In a ceremony attended by the commander of the Iranian army General Ataollah Salehi, the 50-year old Bayandor destroyer joined the Iranian naval fleet after undergoing major repairs work and being equipped with various state-of-art systems.

The Iranian Navy's deputy chief for technical affairs, Rear Admiral Abbas Zamin said overhauling the Bayandor destroyer completed within 20 months.

Zamini said the destroyer is 83 meters long, 10 meters wide, 23 meters high from the deck and weighs 135 tons. It enjoys a speed of 20 knots.
