Rusatom: Bushehr Nuclear plant not affected at all in quakes

Moscow, June 5, IRNA -- An official in Russian state Rusatom Company announced here Wednesday that Tuesday earthquake has not affected Iranˈs Bushehr Nuclear Plant event the lightest bit, adding that the BNP normal activities continue.
According to IRNA, this Rusatom official who has spoken to Russiaˈs state Itar-Tas news agency on condition of anonymity further reiterated, ˈUnit One of the BNP which is now operational has remained fully unaffected in Tuesday Bushehr quake and the former quakes in the region.ˈ
An earthquake measuring four degrees on the open-ended Richter scale shook the Kaki district of Bushehr Tuesday evening.
According to this Rusatom official added, ˈNone of the staff members of the Bushehr Nuclear Plant event felt the tremors of the Tuesday earthquake.ˈ
He said that the preparations for putting this unit to use are in progress under quite normal conditions.
The Rusatom official emphasized, ˈThe published news in some media about the damages in a part of Unit One of the BNP due to the earthquake is quite baseless and a sheer lie.ˈ
The Head of Rusatom Sergei Krienco, too, had announced lately that very high safety measures have been observed in Iranˈs Bushehr Nuclear Plant.
He added, ˈThe BNP is resistant for earthquakes measuring up to 9 degrees on the Richter scale.
