Iranian presidential candidate Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel says economic problems are the nation's main concern, stressing the next administration must promptly deal with the issue.

"I emphasize that currently the most important issue for the people is the economy, high prices, inflation, high living costs and problems caused from unemployment," lawmaker Haddad-Adel said during a televised speech.

The Principlist candidate said the Iranian nation expects the future administration to solve current economic issues such as inflation.

"My solution for stopping inflation or reducing inflation is to stabilize fluctuations in the currency market and stabilize the price of goods, [this is the way] we will be able to rein in inflation," Haddad-Adel added.

The lawmaker named high liquidity as another issue that must be dealt with, saying money should be directed toward production to reduce unemployment.

"Another one of our country's economic problems is high liquidity … this liquidity is being used for non-beneficial purposes…we must direct the liquidity that people have towards production so that jobs are created and we must emphasize on [the need for] domestic production. We must support domestic production, employment and investment…so that economic growth can take place."

Haddad-Adel further emphasized the importance of social welfare and economic justice, saying that his administration would do its outmost to fight corruption and overspending.

"The administration must… observe financial discipline to the maximum and prevent any form of overspending in government organizations…. We must emphasize the distribution of wealth in society, and strengthening and providing social welfare, fighting poverty and asserting social justice must be our economic objectives."

Haddad-Adel is running against former Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Velayati, Secretary of Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili, Expediency Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei, President of the Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council Hassan Rohani, former First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref, Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, and former Telecommunications Minister Mohammad Gharazi.

Iranians will go to the polls in the country's 11th presidential election on June 14. The fourth city and rural council elections are also scheduled to be held on the same day.
