A senior official at International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) says the IAEA will work hard to resolves differences with Iran over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear energy program.

“As you know differences remain but we are committed to dialogue and we are determined to solve these issues so we will be working hard today to resolve the differences,” IAEA Deputy Director General Herman Nackaerts was quoted by Reuters as saying upon his arrival for talks at the Iranian diplomatic mission in the Austrian capital, Vienna, on Wednesday.

The Islamic Republic and the IAEA have opened fresh talks in Vienna to negotiate a technical framework for cooperation

Iran's Ambassador to the IAEA Ali Asghar Soltanieh heads the Iranian delegation to the talks, while the IAEA delegation is led by Nackaerts, who is also the head of the Agency’s Safeguards Department.

The ongoing talks are the 10th round of the negotiations between Iran and the IAEA over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear energy program since early 2012.

The previous round of the negotiations was held in mid-February in Iran’s capital, Tehran.

Meanwhile, Secretary of Iran Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili is also in the Turkish city of Istanbul for a meeting with EU foreign policy chief, Catherine Ashton, over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear energy program.

The United States, Israel and some of their allies falsely claim that Iran is pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program, with the US and the European Union using the claim as pretext to impose illegal sanctions against Iran.

Tehran rejects the allegation over its nuclear energy activities, maintaining that as a committed signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the IAEA, it has the right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
