IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, April 29, IRNA -- Vice-President and Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Fereidoun Abbasi said that a total of 2,000 megawatts of nuclear electricity will be produced by the end of current Iranian year (ends March 20, 2014).
"We have produced a total of 1,000 megawatts of nuclear energy up to now and we are in the probationary stage," Abbasi said.
He noted that the Iranian parliament has approved that a total of 20,000 megawatts of nuclear electricity should be produced within next five years.
"If we do adopt an export outlook towards the global markets, we will be doomed to failure. Hence, we should be present at the international markets with superior brands and standards," AEOI chief said.
