EU's Ashton Expresses 'Cautious Optimism' For Upcoming Iran Nuclear Talks
April 03, 2013
European Union foreign-policy chief Catherine Ashton says she is "cautiously optimistic" about upcoming talks on Iran's nuclear development program.
Speaking in Ankara on April 3, Ashton said it was "very important" that her talks with Iranian officials in Almaty, Kazakhstan later this week yield some progress.
Ashton is leading the talks on behalf of the six world powers -- the United States, France, Britain, Germany, Russia, and China.
The sessions on April 5-6 in Almaty are a follow-up to meetings the parties started in the Kazakh commercial capital at the end of February.
