Iran's 24th naval fleet berths in Sri Lankan port

Tehran, March 21, IRNA -- Iran's helicopter-carrier vessel and Sabalan destroyer berthed in Sri Lanka's Colombo port on Thursday.
The Sri Lankan top navy commanders welcomed Iran's 24th naval fleet comprising Kharg helicopter-carriers vessel and Sabalan destroyer to Sri Lankan soil.
Commander of Iranian Navy's 24th Naval Fleet First Navy Capitain Omid Golestaneh said that sending the message of peace and friendship is the first goal of his fleet's mission, and said, 'The first goal that we pursue is sending the message of peace and friendship to the regional countries, especially the southern and eastern Asian states.'
'Our second objective showing the Islamic Republic's might and waving Iran's flag in the southern hemisphere and equator before restoring security to the shipping lines travelling through sensitive regions, particularly in Malaga Strait and Bay of Bengal,' Golestaneh added.
