Jalili: Iran to continue cooperation with IAEA

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Moscow, Feb 27, IRNA -- Secretary of Supreme National Security Council, Saeed Jalili says Iran will continue cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Addressing a press conference at the end of talks with G5+1 in Almaty, Jalili said senior Iranian officials are determined to continue cooperation with the IAEA.

He said, 'However, cooperation with the IAEA has special frameworks to which Iran and the G5+1 had referred in their talks.

He noted that Iran's nuclear program is clear and transparent enough.

To a question on the Iran-G5+1 talks in the future, Jalili said Iran and the G5+1 will have expert level talks in Istanbul from March 17-18 to study host of issues, including lifting sanctions against Iran.

'We are ready for any long-term actions and have announced our proposals on the issue in the Almaty meeting. During the talks we emphasized that the moves to be taken should be well-calculated and balanced.'

'Lifting sanctions is good and serious. The move should be balanced however. The issue was raised during meeting with experts in Istanbul. Those claiming that they imposed crippling sanctions against our nation and supposedly piled up the highest pressures in recent months are now witnessing that such pressures and behaviors have had no results for them.'

He said, 'They should understand the reality that the best way is to choose the right path and enter a new course. The Islamic Republic of Iran has always welcomed talks. We have always said what is helpful for success of cooperation is the parties should enter into talks with a strategy, speedily and correctly.'

Iran and the G5+1 held two rounds of nuclear talks in ALmaty both on Tuesday and Wednesday.
