Russia: Almaty nuclear talks constructive

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Moscow, Feb 27, IRNA -- Russian News Agency Ria-Novesti quoting Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Senior Negotiator Sergei Ryabkov said that the first round of nuclear talks between Iran and Group 5+1 in Almaty was constructive and useful.

Ryabkov added he had a bilateral meeting with Iran's negotiating team on Tuesday afternoon.

The Russian senior negotiator refrained from presenting more explanation on the content of the first round of nuclear talks.

Contrary to western countries, Russia underlines Iran's right for peaceful nuclear activities.

The first round of the 8th meeting of Group 5+1 with Iran kicked off its work in Almaty, former capital of Kazakhstan, on Tuesday morning in Hotel Rixus.

The two sides have presented new proposal packages.

A member of Iranian delegation in Almaty said that Iran's new proposal package is like Russia's ' Step by Step ' plan, but its content has been improved.

The second round of talks is to start on Wednesday.
