Mehmanparast: Iran, G5+1 should take identical measures

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Feb 19, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Tuesday that in the upcoming meeting between Iran and G 5+1 in Kazakhstan the two sides should take identical measures.

Speaking to reporters during his weekly press briefing, he said in the upcoming meeting the two sides' delegations would exchange views and there would be no room for speculation to this end.

Any issue to be raised by certain individuals or media other than those expressed by both sides' officials will be of no value, he said.

Adopting a rational approach will help resolve the issue and resorting to threat and pressure will never bear fruit, he said.

To resolve the issue, the G5+1 should recognize Iran's legal right to make use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes while Iran will spare no effort to remove all probable ambiguities and concerns.

Some segments of media have spread rumors that G5+1 has proposed Iran to shut down Fordow nuclear facility and suspend uranium enrichment upto the level of 20 percent in return for lifting gold sanctions on Iran, a reporter asked.

Iran has not received any official proposal from G5+1, he said, adding that the news aired to this end do not reflect Iran's stands.

Since Iran tries to help resolve regional disputes, the G5+1 also put such issues as those of Syria or Bahrain on its agenda, Mehmanparast said.

Iran and G5+1 are to reach an agreement on the new modality plan in which Iran's legal rights have been fully observed, he said.

The two sides are very optimistic about their future talks, he said.

Iran's official stands will be made public in the upcoming conference in Kazakhstan, he said.

On a letter sent to the Egyptian president by a group of Iranian individuals, he said the letter did not reflect Iran's officials stands.

Certain Arab states are accusing Iran of intervening in the domestic affairs of Bahrain, he said, adding that they try to put the blames on others in order not to hear the voice of people.

The Canadian foreign minister has expressed concern about the close ties between Iran and Venezuela, he said, adding that Iran's relations with others such as Latin American countries are not against any third country.

This claim proves that the North American countries such as Canada do not care about the interests of other nations and merely seek to impose their wills on others.

He advised the Canadian officials to mind their own affairs and avoid interfering in the domestic affairs of other counties.
