FM Spokesman: No talks with US possible as long as it has not changed its behavior

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Mashhad, Razavi Khorassan Prov., Feb 8, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Ramin Mehmanparast, said here late Thursday that negotiation with US within framework of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei would not happen as long as Americans have not changed their attitude and have not apologized to the Iranian nation due to 60 years of its hostile and oppressive measures.

Mehmanparast made the remark in a gathering in Mashhad attended by US scholars, adding negotiations with various countries is the priority of the foreign policy of any state.

He said negotiation with the US is not on the agenda of any Iranian officials, meanwhile, Iran would negotiate with any country except the Zionist regime.

Mehmanparast noted the US had repeatedly requested having talks with Iran to settle the crisis in the Middle East and it has been fulfilled.

As for the US request to negotiate with Iran on the Afghanistan conflict, Mehmanparast said following Iranian efforts to resolve the crisis in Afghanistan, the US continued its hostile behavior and surprisingly the country's president, described Tehran as part of the axis of evil in the world.

There is no goodwill in a negotiation with the threat of economic and political pressure, he concluded.
