If US proves honest, its proposal will be considered - Mehmanparast
IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, Feb 6, IRNA -- Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry reacted Wednesday to the latest remarks by the US Vice President Joe Biden on direct talks with Iran, saying Tehran will review the proposal if Washington is honest.
Ramin Mehmanparast made the remarks in a joint meeting held between the three ministries of foreign affairs, interior and defense, commenting on Washington's readiness to hold direct talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
He reiterated that they (the Americans) have come to the conclusion to negotiate with Iran but they should know that talks along with pressures and sanctions will be meaningless.
Recalling imposition of anti-Iran sanctions, removing the name of Mojahedeen-e Khalq Organization (MKO) from the terrorists list and arresting some Iranian nationals by US officials, he reiterated that such contradictions will not bring favorable outcome during bilateral talks.
The diplomat advised US officials to hold talks on the basis of mutual respect, stressing that Tehran is ready for serious talks on certain issues.
