MP says Majlis decided to question President

Tehran, Oct 23, IRNA -- Spokesman of the Majlis Presiding Board, Abdolreza Mesri said on Tuesday that Majlis decided to question President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Wednesday.

Speaking to IRNA, he said that several MPs who had questions from the president have not been satisfied with explanations made by the members of Majlis' Planning and Budget Commission, they requested the president to respond to them.

According to Majlis procedure, the question will be distributed among MPs and must be read out at the Majlis formal session after 48 hours.

The questions will be forwarded to president and he should attend Majlis formal session to respond to them within one month.

President Ahmadinejad said last week that he respects the parliamtnt's right to question the chief executive about current state of affairs.

The MPs are critical of the government about handling of the economy under pressure from the US-led sanctions.

The sanctions has paralyzed livelihood of low-income families despite the western governments had declared their sanctions targeted the nuclear program.

Iran is signatory to Non-Proliferation Treaty and senior government officials have declared time and again that Iranian nuclear program is merely for civilian utility.

The Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency has said that there is no evidence about Iran's weapons program and verified non-diversion of Iran from NPT in its repetitive reports about Iranian nuclear program.

The satellite cameras of IAEA are monitoring all Iranian nuclear sites 24 hours sending pictures to IAEA headquarters in Viennaa about activities of Iranian technicians.
