Salehi discusses continuation of Iran-5+1 talks with Lavrov

New York, Sept 29, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi discussed continuation of talks with the 5+1 with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.

Talking to IRNA Friday evening local time after his meeting with Lavrov, he said he discussed bilateral, regional and international issues with the Russian foreign minister.

Saying that the two foreign ministers focused on the Syrian issue during their meeting, he also pointed out that Iran and Russia have always exchanged views on the situation in Syria.

Salehi said that both countries believe supports should be offered to the United Nations Special Envoy for Syrian Affairs Lakhdar Brahimi to enable him play his due role as an impartial source in working out a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis.

Salehi said both sides agreed on finding a Syrian-Syrian solution to the crisis and rejected any foreign interventions in the country.

The two officials also discussed Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities as well as formation of Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission.
