Navy to expand presence in international waters

Tehran, Sept 3, IRNA -- Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said on Monday that Iran’s naval forces are to expand their presence in the international waters in order to safeguard the country’s interests and rights.
Today the Navy's presence is extended from the Persian Gulf to the north of the Indian Ocean, the Gulf of Aden and Bab el-Mandeb, he added.
The commander reiterated that the Navy would be present anywhere on the international waters in order to safeguard the Islamic Republic’s interests.
Sayyari said the Navy has escorted more than 1,500 commercial ships and oil tankers in the Gulf of Aden and north of the Indian Ocean to the Red Sea.
