Iran Nuclear chief: Tehran has no problems with IAEA inspections

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Aug 26, IRNA -- Head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (IAEO) Fereydoun Abbasi said Tehran has no problems with the inspections by the International Atomic Energy Organization (IAEA).

Abbasi made the remarks while talking to reporters here on Sunday.

However, he said, the IAEA has to have sufficient justifications for visiting its requested sites.

Stressing that Iran has always been transparent regarding its nuclear program, Abbasi further noted that the IAEA inspectors have been free to visit Iran at any time they desired.

He further said Iran has always cooperated with the IAEA and will continue to do so.

The IAEO chief added that the IAEA inspectors have to inform Iran of their plan to visit Iranian facilities just two hours earlier and then they have access to them.

On the recent talks held between Iran and the IAEA, he said the negotiations were carried out within legal frameworks based on the IAEA mandate.

He said Iran will continue with the talks because it enjoys a very strong logic and senior negotiators.
