IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, August 22, IRNA -- Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Fereydoun Abbasi said on Wednesday that Iran has plans to cooperate with suppliers of advanced technology for construction of new nuclear power plants.

Iran will only cooperate with those countries supplying technology in line with standards and principles of the International Atomic Energy Agency, he said.

Speaking to IRNA after cabinet meeting, he said Iran welcomes any offer for cooperation from industrialized nations.

In response to a question posed by one reporter on probable cooperation of Japan in construction of new nuclear power plants in Iran, he said there is no problem for such joint project.

Iran has enough experience in construction of such nuclear power plants and will make use of them in the future projects, he said.
