Defense minister: Iran to legally follow up case of S-300 purchase from Russia

Tehran, July 18, IRNA -- Minister of Defense Ahmad Vahidi said on Wednesday Iran will legally follow up the case of its purchase of S-300 missile system from Russia.

He told IRNA at the end of cabinet meeting that the case is not so important to Iran, but it will legally follow it up.

Commenting on a lawmaker’s remarks, Vahidi said there is still possibility for Russia to deliver the missile system to Iran.

The long range S-300 surface-to-air missile launcher vehicle is applicable to all level of air defense and in fact is a complementary to defensive S-200 rockets.

Iran signed a deal with Russia in 2007 worh 800 million dollars to buy the missile system but the deal was unilaterally cancelled by the Russian side.
