Iran Navy saves Singapore merchant ship from pirates

Tehran, July 7, IRNA -- The Islamic Republic of Iran's Navy saved a Singaporean merchant ship from the pirates while crossing Bab-el-Mandeb strait in the Red Sea.
According to the Public Relations Department of Iran’s Navy, a Singaporean cargo ship was attacked by a group of pirates in the Red Sea but due to vigilance and timely reaction of Iranian naval forces and after an armed conflict, the pirates fled the scene.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has had a strong presence in the international waters in recent years.
The Iranian Navy in various operations have saved many foreign ships from pirates this year. It has so far foiled 25 cases of piracies, including an attack on a US ship.
