Larijani: Nothing can affect Iran-G5+1 talks in Moscow

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, June 16, IRNA -- Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani says no external factor or ballyhoo can affect the Moscow talks between Iran and the G5+1.

Larijani said what is of importance for Iran is that the G5+1 members should abide by their commitments based on the mutually-agreed framework.

If both sides attending the Moscow session act on the already-reached agreements, there will be no need for any hue and criy, opined Larijani.

Iran-G5+1 talks will be held in Moscow from June 18-19. The previous rounds of talks were held in Istanbul (Turkey) and in Baghdad (Iraq).

As Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in a joint press conference with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari in the Russian capital, Moscow, announced they hoped for holding constructive talks between Iran and Group 5+1 in Moscow.

“Moscow hopes that the Group 5+1 talk constructively in Moscow from June 18-19 about the documents related to Iran’s nuclear program that were prepared in Baghdad meeting. We unanimously believe that nuclear talks should take place within this framework,” he added.

Lavrov noted that within this framework serious ideas and proposals have been gathered which can materialize step-by-step measures and reciprocal actions.

“On the same basis, a special working document has been prepared that was handed over to Iran by Group 5+1 in Baghdad and it will be studied in Moscow,” the Russian foreign minister added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Larijani commented on dissolution of parliament in Egypt on a court order.

He said formation of a parliament in Egypt marks a turning point and hope for the revolutionary Egyptian people. So, dissolution of the institution on an order by the constitutional court can raise concern and anxieties in the society, said Larijani.

Noting that the constitutional court order for dissolution of parliament would entail grave consequences for Egypt, Larijani said it seems that Egyptian revolution immediately after formation of the parliament and election of the president by the public will enter a new stage.
