IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Tehran, May 23, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi said on Wednesday that Iran is optimistic about Baghdad talks, hoping to hear good news from there today or tomorrow.
Addressing a joint press conference with Ecuadorian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Ricardo Patino in Tehran, Salehi said some remarks from the other party to the talks prove that they are also interested in success of the Baghdad talks.
Pointing to the visit of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General, Yukia Amano, to Tehran, Salehi said Amano's talks with Secretary of Supreme National Security Council of Iran (SNSCI) Saeed Jalili on Iran's cooperation with the IAEA have had fruitful outcome.
The Iranian top diplomat reiterated that time will prove and all must wait to see what will be the response of those who are engaged in the talks.
Salehi said Iran has always announced it welcomes the talks seriously and with good will, as proved in the Istanbul talks.
He said Tehran is expecting a serious approach by other side as well.
