Salehi underlines Iranís right to use nuclear energy based on NPT

Tehran, May 20, IRNA -- Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi underlined Iran’s right to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes within the framework of Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
According to a report by the ministry’s Public Relations Department, Salehi who is on a one-day official visit to Kuwait, made the remarks in a meeting with Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled al-Hamad al-Sabah.
He also added that the resolve of the two countries’ officials to promote cooperation is a great factor in deepening bilateral ties.
He also hopes that mutual cooperation in economic and cultural fields will benefit both nations.
Recalling the sensitive situation facing the region, he stressed the need for regular talks.
Salehi voiced Iran’s readiness for holding joint economic cooperation commission session at the earliest.
Al-Sabah, for his part, voiced Kuwait’s readiness to promote bilateral ties in all fields.
Successful holding of Iran’s cultural week in Kuwait was a positive step in line with introducing Iran’s cultural heritage, he said, stressing the need to hold such events regularly.
