Russia calls for lifting of sanctions against Iran

Moscow, May 14, IRNA -- Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady M. Gatilov on Monday called for initiatives to be taken to lift sanctions against Iran.
He told IRNA that Iran should however stick to its international commitments on its nuclear program.
Gatilov said the evidences shows that Iran is on its way to act based on its commitments in this regards.
He ruled out any probable sanctions against Iran and said there will not be new sanctions against Iran by the United Nations Security Council.
The deputy minister said sanction mechanism is not in conformity with Non-Proliferetion Treaty and the mechanism is no longer practical in international relations.
Gatilov expressed his country's satisfaction with Iran's readiness to resume nuclear talks with G5+1 and said all the countries involved in the talks are in close contacts with one another to ensure the talks would bear the best resuls.
Underlining the need for peaceful settlement of Iran's nuclear issue, he said all sides are hopeful for the peaceful solution of the case.
