Navy commander: Regional security needs no foreign forces

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, May 13, IRNA -- Navy Commander Admiral Habibollah Sayyari on Sunday said no foreign forces are needed to provide regional security.

Sayyari said security cooperation among regional countries can establish peace, stability, tranquility and security in the region.

Pointing to his February talks with his Omani counterpart and his accompanying delegation, he said the two sides had underlined the need for joint miltiary cooperation to secure regional peace, stability and security.

"Both sides also exchanged views on different issues particularly defense cooperation, holding joint rescue operations, dispatch of military observers, and boosting of educational and technical cooperation," the Navy commander added.
