Iran does not rule out IAEA access to its military research sites

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Feb 28, IRNA -- Iran's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the International Atomic Energy Agency, Ali Asghar Soltanieh said on Tuesday that Iran does not rule out the access of IAEA inspectors to its miltiary research sites.

Speaking in an interview with Russian RT television, he said the IAEA delegation that visited Tehran recently comprised experts on legal, political and technical issues and not inspectors.

The group visited Iran for negotiations on reality and framework of mutual cooperation, he said.

Iran does not rule out the access of IAEA to its military sites such as Parchin but this depends on some preconditions which IAEA should meet, he said.

On unfounded allegations leveled against Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities, he said “I am quite confident that all these allegations are untrue and unfounded.”

There is no doubt that Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities have nothing to do with nuclear arms, underlined the Iranian envoy.

'We have created a suitable and historical opportunity for IAEA's high ranking officials to visit Iran,' Soltanieh said.

“We have continued our cooperation with IEAE despites new rounds of sanctions imposed against the country, assassination of our nuclear scientists and various anti-Iran resolutions,” he said.
