TEHRAN (ISNA) - Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said Tuesday the next round of talks between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany is likely to be held in a country except Turkey.
"We have already said that Turkey had expressed its readiness to hold the dialogue. Other countries may express their readiness as well. We will examine the issue on Saturday after other countries have expressed their readiness to host the talks," he said in a press conference with his Omani counterpart Yusuf Bin Alawi in Tehran.
He said the venue of the negotiations would be decided upon after dialogues between Iranian nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili and the EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton.
He expressed hope the issue would be made clear by Saturday or Sunday.
Salehi added, "My personal view is that we can hold this round of talks in Istanbul since the last one was hosted by Turkey as well. Of course Mr. Jalili should decide about the issue."
Also Omani Foreign Minister rejected reports that his trip to Tehran aimed at mediation between Iran and the U.S.
He said, "I stress that the issue was not on agenda of the trip and I have no special mission in the visit."
