Iran plans to change Tehran reactor's core

TEHRAN (ISNA) - The Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Fereydoun Abbasi said the core of Tehran reactor would be changed in coming months.
Abbasi referred to Iran's recent nuclear achievements, adding the core of the reactor possesses at least 20 fuel complexes and their numbers would rise when they are used.
He noted, "We have placed the first indigenous fuel complex into the reactor core and we will add more complexes in coming months so that finally we can replace the old core with a new one considering standards."
Abbasi called all steps carried out regarding the reactor "very important" since the country would be able to produce pharmaceuticals, adding the technology of producing fuel is very important and Iran has made a huge progress in materials science and metallurgical issues.
He referred to some media moves on Iran's nuclear gains, adding foreigners have always tried to create doubt for public opinion to question Iran's measures.
