Senior Commander: Iran’s cyber defense is preemptive

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Feb 19, IRNA -- Police Commaner Brigadier General Esmaeil Ahmadi Moghaddam said on Sunday Iran’s cyber defense is preemptive.

He made the remarks in a closing meeting of the First National Cyber Forum in Tehran.

Ahmadi Moghadam insisted on establishing Iran's cyber army not for offensive, but for defensive purposes just to stop attacks by enemies.

He said Iran must avoid thinking of merely defensive position, because it provides the enemy with chance to attack Iran due to negligence towards offensive capability.

The Police Commander said military threats normally take place in hard, semi-hard, and soft war forms. Hence, Iran must reinforce its defensive and offensive equipments to retaliate any imposed soft wars in their psychological and social dimensions.

Ahmadi Moghaddam said Police's cyberspace is one of the safest national sites in Iran, because it is not connected to the Internet and also Iran has one of the most-protected sites against any cyber attacks in the region, due to its high technical capabilities for any probable cyber attacks and counter-attacks.

The First Two-Day National Cyber Forum started in Tehran on February 18.
