IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency
Moscow, feb 3, IRNA -- Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Vitaly Churkin, said on Thursday that the United Nations Security Council is not a suitable place for discussing Iran’s nuclear issue.
Churkin made the remarks in a video press conference organized by the Russian Ria-Novosti news agency in Moscow on Thursday.
“Iran’s nuclear issue should be discussed within the framework of the negotiations with the Group 5+1 (five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany,” the Russian diplomat added.
He pointed out that the negotiations between Iran and Group 5+1 should be seriously pursued.
Moscow believes that the time has come for putting an end to unilateral sanctions by the West against Iran and that the negotiations with different countries, including Iran with the aim of interacting with Iran should be pursued.
