Defense minister unveils new smart ammunition

Tehran, Jan 30, IRNA -- On the threshold of the victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi unveiled new home-made smart munitions dubbed as “Basir”.
In the ceremony, Vahidi congratulated the auspicious occasion of “Ten Day Dawn” and highlighted the great success of Iranian Armed Forces in manufacturing advanced military equipment and ammunition.
Basir laser guided ammunition has been manufactured by Iranian experts, he said.
Basir laser guided ammunition is used to target enemies' fortifications and facilities such as bridges, tanks, military apparatus, command centers and vehicles, Vahidi said.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is among top five countries in the world able to produce such sophisticated weapons, he said.
