Russia calls for diplomatic means to resolve dispute with Iran

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Moscow, Jan 26, IRNA -- Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on Thursday that Russia only thinks of diplomatic means to resolve nuclear dispute with Iran and nothing more.

He told IRNA that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called yesterday for an immediate resumption of nuclear talks between Iran and Group 5+1.

Lukashevich said Lavrov clearly depicted Russia’s original and principal stance in its foreign policy toward Iran’s nuclear program to the world.

'We have recently waited to clearly announce our stand toward Iran’s nuclear program and possible closure of Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf,' he said.

Lavrove told Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Moscow on Wednesday that Russia supports resumption of new round of talks between Iran and Group 5+1 in Turkey.
